Venkatesh Iyer has been playing for MP from 2015. He made his debut for the List A team against Saurashtra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in December 2015 and his first-class (Ranji Trophy) debut was against Hyderabad during the 2018-19 season. The domestic season of 2020-21 saw him go unbeaten at 87 and 88 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and he was able to maintain an average of over 75 runs and a strike rate close to 150, thus attracting the interest of IPL scouts.

IPL Career

Iyer was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2021 IPL season, and made his debut on 20 September 2021 against Royal Challengers Bangalore before going on to hit his first IPL half century against Mumbai Indians the next day.
